Concept Albums > Internet Dating August 1, 2006
When we Rangers are not replying to fictitious police inquires from ‘email@example.com,’ we are listening to music and riding. Most of the time we are doing both.
Looking back, we have all purchased singles of our favorite artist or bands and some of us even purchased a 45 or two. We are sure some of you still have that ‘Do Me!’ single by BBD just waiting to be played when Skids come back and you can sport that HyperColor shirt. Over time, we have progressed to listening past that one moneymaker on the album and gone on to hear the whole album all the way through. Having done that, the arere really not too many albums that we can listen all the way through from start to finish and really enjoy to whole collection of songs.
At recent Ranger get togethers we have had some lively discussions about what each of us thought were some of the best concept albums ever. While we were really focused on drinking and playing doctor with the neighbor’s foreign exchange students, we still managed to come up with a basic list of albums we can listen all the way through. They are in chronographic order from when we heard them first, not necessary when they were released
1. Afghan Whigs – Gentlemen
2. Radiohead – OK Computer
3. Wilco – Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4. Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
5. Arcade Fire – Funeral
6. Wilco – A Ghost is Born
Now this is a basic list. We want to hear from you! Add a comment with your favorite concept album. And remember, if you see a cat stuck in a tree or someone is breaking into your house, send an email to ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’ to get the help you need.
