Another one bites the dust……and a camera March 2, 2006

Cat FightWe hate to be brining up old shit but we have been sleeping on the Flavor of Love. Last week, we were fortunate to witness a violent cat fight of an elimination ceremony. When Flav called out Pumpkin, she lost her shit and spit in the face of New York who in turn pushed her into a camera. Pumpkin got ruled. TV does not get any better than that.

Crazy New York

Alia has asked us if New York is heading out the door. That is a tough question but the answer is yes. The reason is simple…..from all the promos, it seems that New York will give up the goods to Flav. Game Match Set! Like all normal men, Flav wants what he has yet to have.
New York is also a whack job! Thanks for the question Alia.

Who do you think will get to freak the funk with Flavor when all is said and done?

A Salute To March March 1, 2006

Fuck Yeah! It’s officially March, otherwise know as THE BEST MONTH EVER.

In most places, it means sunny, warm weather, more hours of sunshine, and the occasional overnight dump or monster storm. March is all about off the hook park riding, terrific back country conditions, and legendary, cancer-inducing goggle tans. Resort towns everywhere will be overrun by the giant spring break party, which might chafe the locals, except that it’s hard to be chafed when your usually sausage infested town is all of a sudden filled to capacity with 18-22 year old hotties.

There’s just too many reasons to get stoked on March if you ride a snowboard. Oh… and sorry for the lack of posts lately. The man has been keeping us down with a lot of shit lately, but fuck him, we’ll get ours when we use about 15 sick days over the next 4-5 weeks.

Comments? Mail? Do it up.

24th Annual US Open should be a blast! February 28, 2006

US Open

BURLINGTON, VT (February 27, 2006) - Top quarterpipe, halfpipe and slopestyle riders from around the globe are gearing up for the world’s most prestigious snowboard contest, the Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships held at Stratton Mountain, Vermont from March 13-19. Run by snowboarders, for snowboarders for over 24 years, the Open is the one of the highlights of the competitive season for up-and-coming riders and icons like Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Danny Kass, Gretchen Bleiler, Travis Rice and Natasza Zurek. NBC will air the Burton US Open on April 15, 2006 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. EST.

“I want to go to the US Open this year ’cause I always have a lot of fun and get to see all my friends,” says 2006 Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White. “Plus, I really want to do well and win it this year. It is one of the only contests I haven’t won. And besides Jake owes me like $20 bucks - for real!”

Jake Burton, Founder and Chairman of Burton had this to say about the Open: “We are all looking forward to watching the world’s best riders compete in a laid back atmosphere that says what this sport is all about. Shaun will get his $20, and if he continues to ride the way he’s been riding, he’ll get a whole lot more.”

Watching Shaun go after his first US Open Championship title against four-time US Open Halfpipe Champion and two-time Olympic Silver Medalist Danny Kass will definitely be a highlight of the Open. Native Vermonter and 2006 Olympic Gold Medalist Hannah Teter will also go after her first US Open halfpipe contest victory. Here are a few more reasons why this year’s Open promises to be the best in the event’s 24-year history.

On Friday March 17th, the invite-only quarterpipe contest will return to Stratton’s main base area with Travis Rice, Danny Kass, Pat Moore, Keir Dillon, Torah Bright, Leanne Pelosi, Alexis Waite and Junko Asazuma riding to jaw-dropping heights on the quarterpipe’s 30-foot hand-dug walls. Saturday’s halfpipe finals will draw tens of thousands of fans to watch eight current and past Olympic halfpipe medalists including Shaun White, Danny Kass, Markku Koski, Ross Powers, Gian Simmen, Hannah Teter, Gretchen Bleiler and Kelly Clark compete in the largest halfpipe in US Open history. Twenty-two-foot walls and a deck that’s higher than the chairlift that runs beside it will allow riders to go bigger than ever. On Sunday, the mini-shreds will try their luck in the gigantic halfpipe during the Junior Jam contest for kids 13-years-old and under. And it all wraps up with the slopestyle contest where superstars like Shaun White, Travis Rice, Risto Mattila, Todd Richards, Natasza Zurek and Tara Dakides will duke it out for Open glory.

The US Open is also part of the Ticket to Ride (TTR) Pro Snowboard series that ranks snowboarders around the world according to their performance at TTR events. New this year, the Global TTR Tour Champion will be crowned at the US Open, which is the final event in the series.

Free to the public and open to top pros and amateurs alike, the US Open is your chance to witness the most progressive snowboarding in the world. So head to Stratton Mountain, Vermont March 17-19 to see snowboarding history in the making.

Cohen and White Gear Up for Gold Medal Romp February 22, 2006

The White-Cohen saga continues.  Everyone from Bob Costas to the semi-literate ranch hands at USA Today have been asking about it, and today, Sasha Cohen had a response to Shaun White’s trifles.

  Mmmmm... Cohen Mmmmm... Gold

“I did hear what he said, but I’ve not seen him,” said Cohen. “I think the skiers probably stay in a different village up in the mountains. But I’ll probably see him at closing ceremonies.”

Note the bit about skiers.  Cohen is either really stoned, really dumb, or concentrating really, really, hard on winning a gold medal of her own. Suprising, given how down to earth and unassming she usually is.

We are certain of one thing.  If they spawned a child, it’s giant ego would be rivalled only by the size of its crippler 1440s.

On an unrelated note, a new Ranger may soon be in the mix… one who has been lurking in the underbellly of the GR, feeding us vital industry information and is just about ready to step forth and snatch victory from the jaws of the blogosphere.

Update: Cohen missed practice today… White is still in Torino. Coincidence?

Drop comments below or mail us, bitches.
